Having talked with many vets...to reduce medical costs in the long run, it's best to keep the cats indoors, if at all possible...even if they prefer to be outside....less chance of getting parasites and coming down with other exotic diseases, like diabetes....having had a cat with diabetes before, it was not fun having to give the cat injections each morning and night...
Not that it's my business, but thought I'd share that bit of experience :)
